Charlemagne or Charles the Great is one of the key historical figures in the reconstruction and unification of the Western Roman Empire.
The early 900s had seen the decline of Charlemagne's once mighty empire and a period of utter corruption for the Catholic Church. The heart of Europe was again split into an array of quarrelling factions, waiting to be united.
